Issue:
The home owner expressed the concern that the footing for the shop was too small and too shallow for the snow load and winter conditions of the location it was constructed. One year after completion of the shop, it began to experience settlement and movement in the foundation and through out the concrete slab.
Polyflow Solution:
We started the project by conducting penetrometer testing in 10 different locations all the way around the structure. With that data collected from the testing of the soils; we determined the depth of the stable strata and made a plan to build a structural foam footing from the solid strata to the bottom of the existing footing using direct injection of structural two component polyurethane foam. We installed over 125 direct injection sites into the soil; paying particular attention to the areas under the 26 support posts. This process dramatically improved the load bearing capacity of the soil and stabilized the existing structure for the useful life of the structure.
